"The poets declare that in the indefinite of the universe stands the enigma of our world, that in this enigma stands the mystery of the living, that in this mystery palpitates the poetry of men: not one would know how to see himself dispossessed of the other!"
Patrick Chamoiseau
An actor, two musicians to stand up to the migrant who comes from elsewhere, to stand in our place of humanity in front of the scandal that is tearing Europe apart today and drowning our human brothers.
The actor says, tells and narrates, sings texts selected by Christian Gangneron, knotted on the framework of Patrick Chamoiseau‘s Frères migrants (Migrant brothers). Scholarly forms and testimonies, the words and phrases come from everywhere, from the West Indies and Europe, from Africa and the East.
The music intertwines its own threads, its cultures, its imaginary. With the oud, it is the East and the Mediterranean. With the violin, baroque Europe, civilization and ruins, the exile of the Gypsies and the Jews. A piece composed by Laurent Cuniot makes hear a universal of today.
The exile always involuntary, the rejection of the foreigner, the fear, the suffering, but also the hospitality, the fraternity, the hope above all which stretches towards the future these unimaginable and mortal paths: Être d’ailleurs (Being from elsewhere), it is all that, and of the theater, and of the music, mixed together.
To be from elsewhere is to go and meet the other and look him in the eyes. Because to be from elsewhere is at the same time to live here.
Small mobile form dedicated to the meeting, the show is declined within a device of artistic and cultural education in the high schools.
