En raison des décisions prises le 13 mars par le gouvernement français afin de prévenir la propagation du COVID-19, nous sommes dans l’obligation d’annuler le concert Miroirs sur l'Atlantique à la Maison de la Musique de Nanterre.
Due to the decisions taken on March 13 by the French government to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we are obliged to cancel the concert Miroirs sur l’Atlantique.
For the continuation of its American adventures, TM+ is organizing a meeting of 5 composers over the Atlantic swells.
The initial program has been modified because the musicians of the Brightwork newmusic ensemble could not leave the United States, due to the health recommendations in effect in the United States. The TM+ concert is maintained with new pieces.
An orchestral ensemble, four American composers and one French composer: as many cultures and aesthetics as creative artists and virtuoso performers for a new program full of energy and color
To begin with, a piece with an offbeat universe by Alan Shockley, Candlepin.bowling.deadwood. This work, unexpectedly influenced by rock music, proposes a genuine work on rhythm, giving free rein to the virtuosity of the musicians.
The French composer Jean-Marc Singier will be in charge of the clockwork of his piece Traces, and strettes, en strates… en strophes: an ingenious and refined music, with an unparalleled vitality. Inspired by Iranian rhythmic cycles and supported by Stravinsky-like asymmetry, Singier offers us a playful, sparkling and joyful music.
Steve Reich is probably the most American of all, promoter of a music called repetitive, symbol of this side of the Atlantic of a music having escaped Europe. Dance Patterns, a piece written for dance by Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker, brings together two xylophones, two vibraphones and two pianos for a sonic experience of the composer’s typical “phase shift”.
Hugh Levick’s Shards is an interplay of multiple reflections on the meaning of history and catastrophe between Angelus Novus – a watercolor by Paul Klee – Walter Benjamin’s commentary on it, and their musical interpretation today.
In a program featuring percussion, TM+ will perform the Concerto for Percussion and Ensemble by William Kraft, a leading figure in contemporary music in Los Angeles. A true bravura piece in reference to the American War of Independence, the composer offers a piece of energetic substance and virtuoso rhythm.
